Abstract

The corrosion inhibition of sodium tungstate (ST) in controlling corrosion of stainless steel 410 in sea water in the absence and presence of Zn2+ has been evaluated by weight loss method. The formulation consists of 250 ppm of ST and 50 ppm of Zn2+ has 98% IE. AC impedance spectra reveals that the formation of protective film on the metal surface. The nature of the protective film has been characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM).
